I'll admit it. There was a relatively short span of time in my life where I was somewhat religious. My mom was always religious, so I tried following along for a while. But before I realized there was no point, I also watched a few Christian television shows with her. Namely, I watched Jack Van Impe.

This was a long time ago. I would guess early 90s. To tell you the truth, I used to be fascinated by end-of-the-world prophecies, and I too was sucked into believing them for a while. Now I'm not going to sit here and tell you the rapture will never happen, I'm just not so certain it will be within my lifetime.

Anyway, not too long ago I heard a rumor about Jack Van Impe being Catholic. I had always believed Jack to be an incredibly well educated man, so this rumor seemed highly unlikely. It's not like it mattered, of course; I hadn't watched his show in years, so who cares?

And I actually didn't care (no surprise there), but then today I happened across something on MSN about him. It had nothing to do with whether he is Catholic, but that old rumor did surface in my mind, so I decided to track it down.

What I discovered was quite startling. Although not necessarily Catholic himself, it appears he now endorses Catholicism. He has sold out!

But don't just take my word for it (although in reality my word should be good enough!), go ahead and read the local copy here.

I am disgusted with myself for having ever watched his show now.
